It’s Sunday again! Time of yet another INDIAreads quick contest. Before I tell you about this one however, I do have to thank all our participants for their lovely entries…one day I would love to publish them all. They are cute they are fun and they make us look at books, authors and events in a new light. The creativity is refreshing too. And people wonder, why I love my job
Enough of my rambling, however. Lets get down to the business at hand – today’s contest. How many times have you read a book and wished you could have a tête-à-tête with the author? How many times have you wanted to shake them and ask, why? Or maybe just wanted to better understand their theory (in the case of non fiction) or characters? Or their plot and why it turned out the way it did? How many times have you wondered about the fate of a character?
Well now’s your chance. Tell us the 2 questions you would like to ask an author. From serious to the absurd, from Shakespeare to J K Rowling, you can ask anyone, anything. You can ask the two questions of the same author or choose two different authors.
Top 3 entries get to choose their favourite title from our bag of bestsellers. And there’s more! A gift voucher coupon worth Rs 200.
So hurry, and send in your questions. You can post them here, leave them on the INDIAreads facebook page or email them to ls.puia@indiareads.com
or custoemrcare@indiareads.com
Contest ends at midnight, June 5, 2011. Anybody and everybody living in INDIA can participate. (Just make sure you are not related to any INDIAreads employee. I know it’s mean, but such is life!!!)
Winners will be announced on June 7, 2011.

Two Questions Book- Indra Gandhi by Pupul Jaykar.
1. Was the book entirely a true depiction of Indra Ji’s life or yet some hidden facts unexplored?
2. Writer / author normally reveals the entire truth about the character, but no sensationalism has been created through the facts revealed as to they just define day to day activities and the aura of Indra Ji. Why so? Will the hidden facts come forward tomorrow from your desk in a new form like Gandhi ji’s hidden facts revealed recently?

My questions will be to Wytze Keuning, author of Ashoka The Great.
1. How did he manage to write such a big voulumnous book when these days authors mostly get tired in writing more than 200-300 pages of printed books at best?
2. Staying in Netherlands, how did he got so much inspired to write the complete life of Ashoka, when these days somebody would think twice even writing his own biography?

My questions for P.G. Tenzing (Don’t Ask any Old Bloke for Directions):
1) How the hell did you manage to quit your cozy job (He was a old timer in the IAS) and go off for a ride? I don’t even have such a dream job and I am unable to go chase my dreams.
2) Why did you write such a small book? You must have had awesome experiences from such a long long ride. There could have had been much more in the book. But then he would have said, if want those experiences, get on your own butt and go for the ride.

To Amish Tripathi:
a) Your portrayal of Lord Shiva as a human being with many failings that he overcomes to attain greatness is in itself an act of courage. Were you not afraid of the backlash?
To J K Rowling
b) Was it really necessary to kill so many characters in Harry Potter? Little kids read your books, did you have to make them so dark?
