Partly autobiographical and partly travelogue Three Weeks With My Brother is the story of Nicholas Sparks and his brother and the importance of family. In his second book, the award winning author shows that even in the face of death and grief, there is strength to carry on when it is shared with loved ones.

The book follows Nicholas Sparks and his brother, Micah on a 3 week tour around the world. The narrative flips back and forth to the present when they are on the trip, to the past which is their childhood, and up on through the years. Though it is a little ironic that a trip around the world would make someone feel better, and be closer to their brother, readers will find this book to be very readable, enjoyable and emotional. Extremely well written, the author’s description of stages of his life and the order is put in perfectly to all connect to each other and how he got on this trip. As Nicholas and his brother talk about their childhood, parents, their sister and the joys and disappointments in their lives, they rediscover a kind of unity that is felt with others who have been where one has experienced pain, a bond which translates into a shared inner feeling of understanding.
