When NASA discovers a large, high-density rock buried deep in the Arctic ice, it sends a team of experts to explore the possibility of the existence of extra terrestrial life forms in the universe. Among them is analyst Rachel Sexton, the daughter of Senator Sedgewick Sexton, the man running for election against the President of the United States. Soon Rachel and her team find themselves in the midst of an incredible deception that could cause political and scientific upheaval. The astonishing truth they unearth is so great; it will put their lives on the line. And maybe even cost the President his bid for re-election.
What follows is an excellent thriller, a big yet believable story unfolding at breakneck pace with convincing settings and just the right blend of likable and hateful characters. Dan Brown manages to paint a vivid picture of the characters and surroundings, without labouring on details. The plot is fascinating with an occasional twist put in at appropriate intervals to keep readers guessing where the story is leading to. The occasional scientific and military details added into the plot make it much more convincing as well. Additionally, like the title also implies, not all the characters are what readers will think they are.
Deception Point is the perfect book for any average reader. Though some may consider Dan Brown’s writing style a bit lengthy, his novels are always easy to read, exciting and boil down the most complicated subject matter into something completely understandable.
