The story begins with Geronimo Stilton, the main character in the Geronimo Stilton series, having a really bad morning. On his way to work, he is confronted by an elderly rodent woman who whacks him on the head with an umbrella. Dazed by the sudden blow, Geronimo asks her the reason behind her aggression and learns that he’d accidentally stepped on her foot in the past and left without apologizing. Geronimo is utterly confused, as he doesn’t remember seeing the woman at all. Next, he is accosted by his good friend Benny Bluewhiskers, who demands an explanation for calling him names at the local diner. While Geronimo tries to explain that he was not at the diner and would never let down his friends, Benny refuses to listen and walks away. Soon, Geronimo finds himself clarifying other preposterous allegations from random mice. It slowly dawns on hims that an impostor should be going around New Mouse City, defaming him. Why would anyone want to defame Geronimo? And would Geronimo be able to stop him before it is too late? Elisabetta Dami is an Italian writer, best known for the Geronimo Stilton series. She was born in Milan in 1958 and began writing at an early age. In her early years, she worked with her family publishing business as a proofreader. She later collaborated with Piemme publishing house for the Geronimo series. The books have become internationally popular, with as many as fifty books in the entire series.
